Xbox unveils retro-inspired console and controller to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and they’re launching this November

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a special console variant celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary. The console features a translucent green chassis inspired by the original Xbox’s iconic green coloring that defined the brand’s early era. A matching translucent green controller is bundled with the console and will also be available separately.

The design includes nostalgic touches that reference Xbox’s heritage, including colored face buttons on the controller reminiscent of the classic Duke gamepad, with white and black bumpers. The console features an illuminated green Xbox button that lights up when powered on. Like the standard Xbox Series X, the anniversary edition includes 1TB of storage and maintains the same performance specifications.

The Xbox Series X25 will launch in November 2026. While Microsoft has not yet announced pricing, reports suggest the limited edition console may command a premium price given its special design and current market conditions. Pre-order details and additional information are expected to be shared closer to the release date.

The announcement was made during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, where the company also revealed updated branding featuring a transparent logo and all-caps styling as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration. The timing coincides with the showcase of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the franchise’s iconic original launch title.
