Arkane Lyon’s Blade game isn’t dead, despite rumours following Xbox Games Showcase no-show

Marvel’s Blade, the action game in development at Arkane Lyon, remains in active production despite sparking cancellation rumors over the weekend. The absence of the superhero title from Xbox’s Games Showcase 2026 led industry observers and fans to speculate the game might have been abandoned, particularly given the sparse public updates since its announcement at The Game Awards in 2023.

However, both industry sources and Arkane staff have moved quickly to reassure the community. Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who initially speculated during a livestream that the game “might be dead,” clarified on social media that this is not the case. He elaborated that while reasons exist for the game’s continued absence from public showcases, “those reasons are not because there are problems with the game.”

Arkane’s lead concept artist Jean-Luc Monnet reinforced this message with a post simply stating “Let us cook,” signaling the team’s continued work on the title. This reassurance aligns with previous statements from the game’s director, who confirmed in December 2025 that the team was “hard at work” on Marvel’s Blade and promised it “will be a special game” upon release.

With multiple confirmations that development is ongoing, focus now shifts to when Bethesda and Arkane will next provide substantive updates about the game’s progress and anticipated release window.
