Cozy indie game Dressmaker combines the best of Infinity Nikki with management simulators
A new cozy indie game called Dressmaker was unveiled at Wholesome Direct on June 6, blending dress-up sandbox gameplay with management simulation mechanics. Created by Terra Nil co-creator Jonathan Hau-Yoon and fashion historian Sabrina Becker, the game invites players to manage client relationships while building outfits from an extensive collection of clothing options.
The project began as an Itch.io prototype in August 2025, gaining enough interest to attract the attention of indie publisher Free Lives, known for releasing titles like Gorn and Genital Jousting. With Dressmaker, Free Lives is backing a softer, community-focused alternative to Infinity Nikki, the dominant dress-up game in its genre. By merging client relationship mechanics with deep customization capabilities, Dressmaker seeks to establish its own niche in the indie gaming landscape.
