Fable is getting some post-launch DLC already, with an extended look at gameplay planned for later this week
Playground Games has announced that Fable will release on February 23, 2027, with preorders now open across platforms. This marks the first mainline entry in the franchise since 2010’s Fable III, coming more than a decade after the previous installment.
The game is available in multiple editions: a standard edition priced at $70/£60, and a Premium Edition at $100/£90. Players who preorder the Premium Edition will receive 5-day early access to the full game, allowing them to begin playing five days before the official launch date.
Alongside the release announcement, Playground Games has confirmed post-launch DLC for Fable. The expansion, titled “Order of the Hero,” is described as a story-driven experience that introduces a new region to Albion. The DLC centers around discovering the secrets of an ancient cult hidden within the game world. Rather than simply defeating this group, players will instead rise to become the cult’s overseer, shaping its future according to their chosen playstyle—whether heroic, villainous, or something in between. The expansion emphasizes player agency in determining the cult’s direction and values.
Currently, Playground Games has not disclosed specific pricing or a release window for the DLC, though it will arrive sometime after the game’s February 2027 launch.
