Microsoft’s next big release Halo: Campaign Evolved just got a slick story trailer, with footage captured on PS5 Pro

Microsoft released a new cinematic story trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved, its upcoming single-player campaign remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The trailer showcases the game’s story, cinematics, and gameplay while highlighting iconic environments reimagined in a modern engine. The trailer footage was captured on PS5 Pro hardware, which has drawn significant attention given that Microsoft is returning to a console exclusivity strategy while simultaneously making this flagship franchise multiplatform.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching simultaneously across Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Steam—a notable choice that has raised eyebrows as Microsoft refocuses on exclusivity for future releases. The game offers single-player and co-op campaigns but no traditional multiplayer.

According to industry insiders, the trailer may have originally been intended for Sony’s State of Play presentation before Microsoft reportedly pulled it at the last minute, allegedly angering Sony. This would explain why a flagship Xbox title was captured on PlayStation’s most powerful hardware rather than on PC or Xbox hardware.

The game has already demonstrated strong commercial interest, with the Collectors Edition selling out within hours of the June Xbox showcase. Pre-order bonuses include physical merchandise such as collectible statues and other exclusive items. The trailer demonstrates the game’s visual quality on PS5 Pro, which currently represents the most powerful console hardware available.
