Konami’s next 2D Castlevania game, Belmont’s Curse, is arriving in time for Halloween
Konami has officially announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a new 2D entry in the franchise arriving October 15 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version planned for later. The game is co-developed by Konami and Evil Empire (The Rogue Prince of Persia), with advisory support from Motion Twin (Dead Cells), and is designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania series.
Players will take control of Rose Belmont, the daughter of series protagonist Trevor Belmont, as she ventures through Gothic locales including Dracula’s castle and the catacombs of Paris. The narrative is set in 1499, approximately 23 years after the events of the original NES game, continuing the franchise’s ongoing storyline.
The collaboration between Konami and the indie-focused Evil Empire and Motion Twin suggests the title may blend traditional 2D Castlevania gameplay with modern game design sensibilities, particularly given both studios’ expertise in action-driven mechanics. The October 15 release date positions the game to launch near Halloween, aligning with the franchise’s horror aesthetic and seasonal appeal.
