After over five years in early access, Valheim is finally graduating to version 1.0

After more than five years in early access, Viking survival and crafting game Valheim is graduating to its full 1.0 release on September 9. The game, which launched in early access in early 2021, is developed by Iron Gate Studio and has become a significant hit in the survival genre.

The official release will be accompanied by the final major update, titled “The Deep North,” which introduces a new frozen biome along with additional enemies, weapons, and base-building options. This substantial content update represents the culmination of the game’s extended early access period and demonstrates Iron Gate’s commitment to meaningful final additions before the official launch.

Valheim’s 1.0 launch will be available across multiple platforms. PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Linux, and Mac versions will all be updated to version 1.0 simultaneously. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 version, announced previously, will release on the same date, marking Valheim’s arrival on the Sony platform. This multi-platform release strategy reflects the game’s broad appeal and makes the title accessible across different gaming ecosystems.

The extended early access period has allowed Iron Gate to gather extensive player feedback and refine the experience significantly, positioning Valheim as a fully-featured game upon its official launch.
