Deltarune Chapter 5 Revealed, And It’s Out Very Soon

Deltarune Chapter 5 has been officially announced with a release date of June 24, 2026, following its reveal during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. The upcoming chapter will be released as a free update for all players who own the game, maintaining the series’ longstanding free-to-play update model. The chapter will be available across all major platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Developer Toby Fox has provided context about Chapter 5’s direction, explaining in a brief teaser that the chapter will represent a tonal shift from the darker elements hinted at in Chapter 4. “Let’s turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely,” Fox said, describing the upcoming adventure as a return to lighter, more optimistic storytelling.

This marks approximately one year since Chapter 4’s release in 2025, making it the shortest wait between Deltarune chapters so far. The episodic RPG, which serves as a spiritual successor to Fox’s hit 2015 game Undertale, originally debuted with free releases of its first chapters in 2018 before becoming commercially available with Chapters 1-4. The game plan calls for seven chapters total, with Fox teasing that Chapter 6 “is waiting,” confirming continued development beyond the upcoming release.

Fox deliberately avoided showing exciting moments in the Chapter 5 trailer, prioritizing player surprise over conventional promotional tactics—an unusual but deliberate approach to preserving the experience for fans.
