FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods still doesn’t have a release date, but there’s a Switch 2 playtest coming soon

FromSoftware’s multiplayer action game The Duskbloods remains without a confirmed release date despite appearing at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. Originally unveiled during last year’s Switch 2 console reveal, the highly anticipated exclusive has been relatively quiet since its announcement, but finally resurfaced with a new trailer and network test details.

The publisher confirmed that a closed network test will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 this summer, requiring a Nintendo Switch Online membership to participate. While this represents the first substantial update since the game’s initial announcement, FromSoftware has been cryptic about what comes next, offering no specific release window beyond publisher assurances that the game will arrive sometime in 2026.

The new trailer showcased The Duskbloods’ gothic aesthetic with glimpses of stained-glass windows and mysterious characters. The game is described as a multiplayer action experience supporting up to eight players simultaneously, where players take on the role of “Bloodsworn” and battle both against and alongside one another. The gameplay mechanics emphasize blood-based powers and transformations that alter combat styles as players compete to secure “First Blood.”

The Duskbloods draws conceptual inspiration from FromSoftware’s past work, particularly Bloodborne’s gothic horror elements, while blending them with the studio’s signature challenging action gameplay. As one of FromSoftware’s most experimental projects, The Duskbloods represents the studio’s continued innovation in multiplayer-focused game design. The summer network test will provide the next opportunity for players to experience the game firsthand before its eventual full launch.
