Intel adds 7 more games to its IBOT-boosted list, though few of them stand out as being in dire need of more CPU horsepower
Intel’s Binary Optimization Tool (IBOT) has received its first update since launching alongside the Core Ultra 200S Plus processors, adding support for seven additional games. The software analyzes how game code executes on Intel hardware and intelligently redirects certain workloads through optimized execution paths to enhance performance.
Despite the expansion, observers note that many of the newly supported titles don’t appear to be particularly CPU-constrained, suggesting IBOT’s real-world impact may be limited for these specific games. Intel has committed to rolling out regular updates as the company continues building its optimization library.
In one highlighted example, Hollow Knight: Silksong demonstrated up to 27% performance improvement on the Core Ultra 270K Plus paired with an RTX 5090, though this was measured specifically at 1080p High settings and may not reflect performance across different hardware configurations. Such gains are likely system-dependent and reflect best-case scenarios rather than typical user experiences.
IBOT represents Intel’s strategy to optimize gaming performance on its latest processors through hardware-specific code analysis rather than relying solely on traditional driver updates. The approach allows Intel to target and improve specific execution bottlenecks identified in individual game engines.
While the expansion demonstrates Intel’s commitment to ongoing optimization support, questions remain about whether the focus on games that don’t typically exhibit strong CPU dependency represents the most effective use of the technology. As IBOT’s library grows, its true value proposition will likely become clearer as more CPU-intensive titles receive optimization.
