Kingdom Hearts Cloud Versions Shut Down Today, And You’ll Have To Buy New Versions To Keep Playing

Square Enix has discontinued the cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts games on Nintendo Switch, effective June 9, 2026. The decision affects four titles: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind, and Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece, which previously retailed for $40–$90.

Players can continue accessing their purchased cloud versions until June 9, 2027, providing a one-year transition window. The removal follows the delisting of cloud version demos from the eShop in May and aligns with Square Enix’s announcement of native versions coming to Switch and Switch 2—finally offering Switch players a non-cloud alternative after years of cloud-only availability.

To ease the transition, Square Enix is offering discounts on the new digital versions to cloud version owners. This shift moves Kingdom Hearts away from cloud-dependent streaming toward native gameplay, promising improved performance and reliability for players.
