Microsoft launches new Windows 11 Beta channel for next-gen Arm PCs powered by Snapdragon X2 and RTX Spark chips
Microsoft has launched a new Beta channel for Windows 11 version 26H1, marking the first testing channel to offer full compatibility with next-generation ARM-based processors including Snapdragon X2 and RTX Spark chips. Previously, the Windows 11 Beta channel had been limited to devices running version 25H2, leaving Windows 11 version 26H1 users with only the Experimental channel option.
The new Beta channel allows Microsoft to implement the same split testing methodology it uses for Windows 11 version 25H2, separating experimental features from more stable beta features. This expansion is particularly important for the growing ecosystem of ARM-powered personal computers, demonstrating Microsoft’s commitment to optimizing Windows 11 for alternative processor architectures.
The split between Experimental and Beta channels provides users greater flexibility in testing participation. Experimental channels contain bleeding-edge features with higher instability risk, while Beta channels offer a middle ground between stability and access to new functionality. This tiered approach helps Microsoft gather diverse feedback while managing quality assurance more effectively.
For users of Snapdragon X2 and RTX Spark-powered devices, this change means improved access to upcoming Windows 11 features with reduced risk. The move signals that ARM-based Windows PCs are becoming increasingly central to Microsoft’s platform strategy.
