Mina the Hollower Well on Its Way to Saving Dev, Sells Half a Million Copies
Indie developer Yacht Club Games has surpassed its financial recovery threshold after Mina the Hollower sold over 500,000 copies in less than two weeks since its launch. Co-founder Sean Velasco had previously described the game as a “make-or-break” moment for the studio, estimating that 200,000 units would need to sell for the developer to remain financially stable. The game has now exceeded this target by a significant margin, achieving sales more than 2.5 times the required amount.
The sales success provides critical relief to Yacht Club Games, which faced severe financial difficulties reported late last year that forced the studio to conduct staff layoffs. The strong market reception to Mina the Hollower demonstrates renewed community confidence in the developer’s work. The studio responded with gratitude to players on social media, thanking them for purchasing, reviewing, streaming, and supporting the game.
