Pokémon Pokopia is diving beneath the waves in a free update and the first of three paid DLC releases out later this year
The Pokémon Pokopia experience is expanding with both free and paid content announced during Nintendo’s June 2026 Direct. Starting in August 2026, all players will receive a free update enabling underwater exploration, allowing them to dive beneath the waves and build on the sea bed—a feature that would have streamlined earlier beach-based renovations.
Accompanying this free update is a three-part paid Expansion Pass, available for purchase immediately via the Nintendo eShop. The first installment, Bubbly Basin, launches alongside the free update in August 2026. This new underwater town introduces Water-type Pokémon including fan-favorite Mudkip, along with additional outfits, furniture, and a new Dive ability to unlock. The second part of the expansion pass arrives later in 2026, with the third part scheduled for 2027.
The announcement demonstrates the ongoing support for Pokémon Pokopia, the social simulation sandbox spin-off that continues to receive substantial post-launch content. The combination of free updates with optional paid expansions provides players with both accessible new features and premium content for those who want to deepen their experience in the game’s customizable world.
