One day before launch, extraction shooter Sand gets delayed again—oh, and it’s an early access game now, too

Sand: Raiders of Sophie, a PvPvE extraction shooter where players pilot mechanical bases across an alien desert, has been delayed just one day before its scheduled June 10th launch. The game is now set to release on June 22nd as an early access title.

Developers Hologryph and TowerHaus announced the delay following a weekend “Server Slam” stress test that exceeded player expectations. The test revealed issues requiring additional development time before release. The announcement came as a shock, arriving mere hours after the team had posted official launch times and regional pricing in the game’s Discord.

The game had recently been featured at Summer Games Fest, generating significant community anticipation. However, feedback from the server slam was notably critical, with the community raising concerns that prompted the developers to reconsider their launch strategy. The pivot to early access rather than a full launch suggests the developers intend to use the extended timeline to address player feedback and stabilize server infrastructure.
