Stellar Blade: Blood Rain Dev Hints At Potential Day One Xbox Release

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, the sequel to the original PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade, will take a different approach to publishing and platform distribution. Developer Shift Up has announced it will self-publish Blood Rain, marking a significant change from the original game which was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In an interview with IGN, Shift Up’s CEO has heavily hinted at a potential Xbox release on day one, suggesting the sequel will not be limited to PlayStation. When asked about platforms, the CEO stated that “nothing has been decided yet so there’s not much we can reveal,” but emphasized the studio’s desire to “reach out to as many fans as possible.” The executive also referenced concerns about “the future of computers and the consoles,” indicating consideration of a broader platform strategy.

This represents a notable shift from the original Stellar Blade’s exclusive arrangement. By moving to self-publishing and pursuing a multiplatform approach, Shift Up appears positioned to release Blood Rain across multiple systems including PC and potentially Xbox alongside PlayStation. The change reflects industry trends toward broader distribution rather than exclusive deals, giving developers greater control over release strategy and the opportunity to reach players across different platforms. No official announcements have been confirmed yet, but the CEO’s comments suggest multiplatform support is highly likely.
