There were no mobile games at Summer Game Fest, and for good reason
Summer Game Fest 2026 featured virtually no mobile games, marking a significant shift in the showcase’s coverage of the gaming industry. The flagship Friday presentation included no mobile-exclusive titles, and the trend continued throughout the weekend’s Play Days event for press and influencers.
Among the hundreds of games featured across all events, only two multiformat titles—Wuthering Waves and Fortnite—were playable on mobile devices. Mobile ports represented just four or five games across the broader streaming showcases, including Day of the Devs and Wholesome Direct.
The near-total absence of mobile games at a major industry event highlights a notable shift in focus by organizers and publishers. The only mobile game presence the author encountered was incidental—a Love and Deepspace mural in downtown Los Angeles and a Monopoly Go advertisement. This contrasts with previous years when mobile gaming typically claimed at least some showcase space at Summer Game Fest, making the category’s absence particularly notable to observers tracking the medium’s position within the broader gaming landscape.
