Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is whisking us back to Wuhu Island later this year, for boxing, bowling, skateboarding and more
Nintendo has announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a new motion-control sports title coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026. The game was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation and serves as a spiritual successor to 2009’s Wii Sports Resort.
The game takes players back to Wuhu Island, the iconic vacation setting that has appeared in numerous Nintendo titles over the years. Switch Sports Resort will feature 12 different sports utilizing Joy-Con 2 motion controls, with intuitive control schemes tailored to each activity.
The sports lineup includes five returning activities from 2022’s Switch Sports: tennis, volleyball, basketball, bowling, and golf. Seven sports are new to the franchise: boxing, table tennis, archery, skateboarding, power cruising (jet ski), flying a prop plane, and thumb wrestling. The game also includes a jump rope mini-game to warm up before competition.
Each sport employs distinct control mechanics designed around Joy-Con 2 capabilities. For example, skateboarding uses mouse-like controls, thumb wrestling requires holding a single Joy-Con upright, and the prop plane mini-game uses tilting mechanics for free flight movement. Players can compete as either a custom Mii character or a Sportsmate.
Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort are already available on the Nintendo eShop. The game marks the first entry in the Sports series exclusive to Switch 2, continuing Nintendo’s long-running tradition of motion-control sports entertainment.
