Valheim Finally Has A 1.0 Release Date

Valheim, the popular viking survival game from Iron Gate Studios, is finally exiting early access with an official 1.0 release date of September 9, 2026. The release will be accompanied by the “Deep North” update, a major content expansion featuring a new biome that concludes the game’s development journey. This marks the end of over five years in early access and comes more than two years after the last significant update, Ashlands.

The 1.0 launch will bring Valheim to console platforms for the first time. A PlayStation 5 version will release simultaneously on September 9, with pricing expected to match the current PC version at $19.99 / £15.49. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, significantly expanding its player base beyond PC.

Creative director Robin Eyre expressed mixed emotions about reaching this milestone, describing the team’s feelings as “equal parts exciting and anxious” as they prepare Deep North as a worthy conclusion to Valheim’s development. He praised the large and dedicated community that has grown throughout the early access period. The September 9 release date adds another significant title to an already crowded gaming calendar for the month.
