Assassin’s Creed Shadows Final Update Arrives Next Week, Just Over a Year After Launch

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive its final major update on June 16 with Title Update 1.1.11, just 15 months after the game’s launch. The company has officially labeled this as “one last update” for the samurai-set action game, signaling the end of significant content additions, though minor tweaks and bug fixes may still follow.

The announcement highlights a notably scaled-back approach to post-launch support compared to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the franchise’s previous entry. Throughout its first year, Shadows received only one expansion—Claws of Awaji—before Ubisoft confirmed it was winding down content development. This contrasts sharply with Valhalla’s robust post-launch content offerings, which received substantially more expansions and updates over an extended period.

The decision reflects a shift in Ubisoft’s live-service strategy for the franchise and suggests the samurai-focused installment may not have met the publisher’s expectations for sustained long-term commercial viability. Fans have expressed disappointment over the limited post-launch support, particularly given Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ major AAA status and its position as a flagship franchise entry.
