Capcom Responds to Criticism of Onimusha’s PS5 Demo, Says the Full Game Is ‘Tougher’
Capcom has responded to widespread criticism about the difficulty level of the Onimusha: Way of the Sword PS5 demo, assuring players that the full game will provide a more challenging experience. Producer Akihito Kadowaki addressed the feedback in a video posted to social media, clarifying that the demo represents only “a slice of the early part of the story.”
Kadowaki explained that the main character Musashi is given access to a broader range of techniques in the demo than he would have at that same point in the full game—these abilities are normally unlocked later in the adventure. According to the producer, Capcom deliberately included these advanced techniques in the demo to give players a comprehensive understanding of the game’s combat system’s technical depth and complexity, rather than to reflect the actual difficulty progression of the full experience.
The full version of Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to release on September 25. The game represents a modern reimagining of the classic Onimusha series, and Capcom’s responsiveness to demo feedback suggests the publisher is taking player concerns seriously ahead of launch.
