Will Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina end after season 5?

“The Legend of Vox Machina,” the animated television adaptation of Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, will conclude with season 5. With season 4 currently airing, the fifth season has been confirmed as the show’s final installment, marking the end of Vox Machina’s journey on screen.

Critical Role, renowned for its actual play D&D content, has produced multiple campaigns within the fantasy world of Exandria—with the exception of Campaign 4, which takes place in Aramán. Each campaign features a distinct group of adventurers: Campaign 1 follows Vox Machina, Campaign 2 features the Mighty Nein, and Campaign 3 showcases the Bells Hells. The animated series has been adapting Campaign 1’s narrative arc.

The announcement that season 5 will be the final season provides closure to the Vox Machina storyline specifically. However, given that Critical Role has created additional campaigns with different characters and storylines, the end of this adaptation does not necessarily preclude future animated series exploring other campaigns. The show’s conclusion represents the end of Vox Machina’s television narrative rather than a complete end to Critical Role’s broader multimedia adaptation efforts.
