The Dragon’s Dogma 2 expansion and Switch 2 port provide Capcom with a perfect opportunity to substantially update the game - and work has already begun
Capcom announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with a new expansion called “Dark Arisen” launching alongside it. This port and expansion provide Capcom with an opportunity to substantially update the game after over a year without major improvements.
The Switch 2 version will include the Dark Arisen expansion, which is also coming to existing versions of the game. Ahead of the expansion’s release, Capcom has unveiled a two-part update roadmap to address long-standing issues that have plagued the game since its launch.
One of the most requested improvements has been to the game’s fast travel system, which players found limiting and tedious. Originally, fast travel required rare, one-time-use Ferrystones or riding an oxcart that could be attacked by monsters mid-journey, forcing extensive backtracking on foot. The first major update, now live, introduces the Eternal Ferrystone—an unlimited-use fast travel item that allows players to teleport their party to any previously visited Portcrystal without restriction.
Beyond travel improvements, Capcom’s roadmap also addresses other persistent community concerns, including performance optimization and improvements to gameplay systems like enemy scaling in New Game Plus mode, which had been inconsistent since launch.
The timing of these updates with the Dark Arisen expansion and Switch 2 port suggests Capcom is positioning Dragon’s Dogma 2 for renewed interest, offering both new players trying the game on Switch 2 and returning players on existing platforms a substantially improved experience.
