Yet more layoffs reported at Ubisoft, this time in San Francisco
Ubisoft announced a new round of layoffs at its San Francisco office on the same day it closed studios in Winnipeg and Belgrade and proposed further restructuring in Barcelona. Between 50-100 employees at the San Francisco location are believed to be affected, with reports indicating approximately 45 roles eliminated across Ubisoft San Francisco and Red Storm Entertainment combined.
The layoffs were announced during an internal meeting as part of the company’s ongoing cost-restructuring efforts. Although Ubisoft’s San Francisco development studio ceased operations in late 2024, the office remained operational to support functions including IT and marketing. The announcement represents the latest in a series of significant personnel reductions across the publisher.
A total of 380 roles are understood to be at risk across the company as part of these broader changes, reflecting continued challenges at the major publisher. The exact number of those laid off at the San Francisco location remains unclear pending official confirmation from Ubisoft.
