The UK’s number one iOS game 38-0-0 was built overnight by an amateur using Claude

A new football drafting game called 38-0-0 has topped the UK App Store games charts, surpassing major titles like Fortnite. The game was created overnight by Deniz Sancar, an entrepreneur and founder of marketing firm Virlo.ai, using Claude Code—an AI-powered development tool.

Inspired by the basketball drafting game 82-0, the game’s title references the perfect Premier League season record: 38 wins, zero draws, zero defeats. Sancar initially built a web version of the game, then used Claude Code to develop the iOS application.

Gameplay involves players drafting eleven footballers from randomly-selected Premier League teams across random seasons. Once the roster is complete, the game calculates the team’s simulated match record and determines whether the squad would qualify for European competition or capture the league and domestic cup titles.

The game’s meteoric rise underscores the expanding role of AI-assisted development tools in game creation. Sancar’s achievement—building and launching a competitive game to the top of the app store charts in a single evening—demonstrates how AI tools like Claude Code are lowering technical barriers and accelerating development timelines, democratizing game creation for solo developers and small teams.
