Epic Games Store’s new free PC games include a Warhammer 40K favorite
Epic Games Store is offering two free PC games this week for users. The selection includes Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, a chaotic multiplayer combat racing game, and a roguelike take on chess.
Speed Freeks is positioned as a Warhammer interpretation of Twisted Metal, featuring vehicular combat in eight-player lobbies where players race while destroying opponents en route to the finish line. The game offers a diverse vehicle arsenal including buggies, tanks, and helicopters, each customizable with various cosmetics and weapons. Beyond standard racing, Speed Freeks supports user-generated content through custom track creation and a community sharing system for player-made challenges.
The free offerings come during a period of strong Warhammer 40,000 video game releases, with other notable titles in the franchise including Gladius — Relics of War and Darktide. The promotion highlights Epic Games’ ongoing strategy of attracting users to its PC platform through free game offerings, supplementing paid titles with accessible titles spanning multiple genres.
