FF7 Rebirth: From Whence Life Flows, all Lifespring Survey locations
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features a side quest in Cosmo Canyon called “From Whence Life Flows,” available through the town’s noticeboard. The quest involves assisting NPC Bugenhagen in analyzing the area’s Lifespring Crystals, requiring players to locate and protect multiple crystal sites throughout the region.
Each Lifespring Crystal is secured behind a locked wooden gate, with access restricted to a specific sequence—players must visit the crystal locations in a predetermined order to progress through the quest. This gated progression system creates a structured exploration experience within the larger Cosmo Canyon area.
The primary challenge stems from monster encounters at several gate locations. During the quest, players must defend the gates from attacking enemies, defeating them as efficiently as possible. The defensive gameplay mechanic adds combat pressure to the quest objectives, requiring players to manage both protection and offense simultaneously.
The quest offers multiple completion tiers, with a perfect completion rating available to players who meet certain undisclosed criteria during their playthrough. This incentivizes players to optimize their approach to the gate defense encounters rather than simply completing the basic objectives.
