Ninja Scroll Gets Exclusive 4K Restoration and New Trailer Ahead of Theatrical Re-Release
Ninja Scroll, the critically acclaimed samurai anime film, is receiving a new 4K restoration and returning to North American theaters in October 2026. Iconic Events Releasing and AMC Global Media’s HIDIVE streaming service have partnered on the theatrical re-release, which represents a significant restoration and preservation effort for the classic anime. The 4K restoration will debut in a limited theatrical release across the United States and Canada on October 4, 5, and 7, 2026, with ticket sales to be announced. A new theatrical trailer has been created specifically for the re-release.
The film follows protagonist Jubei, who becomes entangled in a larger mystery when he saves a young ninja woman from danger. What initially appears to be a simple rescue becomes the beginning of a complex investigation into mysterious deaths, as the two protagonists work together to uncover the truth.
This theatrical re-release reflects broader entertainment industry trends of reviving and restoring classic anime properties for modern audiences. By bringing a 4K restored version to theaters, the project combines digital preservation efforts with theatrical exhibition, making the acclaimed film accessible to both longtime fans and new viewers.
