Yellowstone, Tulsa King Video Games Are “Priorities” for Paramount Games
Paramount has launched a new gaming division called Paramount Games, marking the entertainment conglomerate’s formal entry into video game development and publishing. The new division will oversee the creation of games based on Paramount’s major intellectual properties, with a particular emphasis on shows created by screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, including Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Lionness. These franchises represent some of Paramount’s most successful television properties in recent years.
The first major project under Paramount Games is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, which is currently in development at PlatinumGames, the acclaimed developer known for action-focused titles. This game is expected to establish the quality bar for Paramount’s gaming initiatives. According to Shawn Kittelsen, who heads creative and production at Paramount Games, the company plans to develop additional AAA games based on its key properties beyond those initially announced.
The launch of Paramount Games reflects the entertainment industry’s ongoing interest in expanding beloved media franchises into interactive experiences. By establishing a dedicated gaming division, Paramount joins other major media companies in recognizing the cultural and commercial significance of video games as a modern entertainment medium. The division’s focus on high-profile television properties suggests the company is taking a franchise-first approach to game development, rather than creating original gaming IP.
