Capcom Has “No Plans” To Bring Resident Evil Code: Veronica X To Switch Online
Capcom has confirmed there are currently no plans to bring the GameCube version of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s retro library. The statement came from Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi during a private Q&A session, in response to speculation sparked by the announcement of a full remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica coming to Switch 2 next year.
The revelation about the remake led fans to wonder whether Capcom might leverage the renewed interest by making the classic GameCube original available through the subscription service’s Nintendo Classics collection. However, Hirabayashi’s response indicated this is not currently under consideration.
Nintendo’s Switch Online + Expansion Pack GameCube library presently includes nine titles, such as Chibi-Robo!, Mario Smash Football, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur II. The service has gradually expanded its retro offerings, though not all classic titles have been made available through the platform.
The news highlights ongoing questions around game preservation and the selective availability of classic titles through modern subscription services, particularly in light of Nintendo’s approach to its legacy libraries on newer hardware.
