Starfield Patch Promises to Fix Its Biggest Crashing Issue on PS5, Two Months After Launch

Bethesda has released patch 1.000.006 for Starfield on PlayStation 5, targeting the game’s most persistent crashing issue. More than two months after the sci-fi RPG’s April launch on Sony’s platform, the developer is finally addressing a semi-consistent crash that occurs during planetary surface exploration.

Since release, players have encountered frequent crashes when exploring alien worlds, forcing many to avoid this core gameplay element. Given that exploration is central to Starfield’s design and appeal, this crashing issue has significantly impacted the player experience. The workaround of simply limiting exploration time is far from ideal for a game built around open-world discovery.

While Bethesda has made progress in fixing some of Starfield’s most glaring performance problems on PS5 over the past two months, this particular crash has persisted. The new patch represents another attempt to resolve stability issues that have plagued the port since its debut on the platform.
