Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Sales Continue To Slip, But Tomodachi Life Holds The Newbies At Bay
Switch 2 sales in Japan continue to decline following Nintendo’s recent price hike, marking another challenging week for the console’s hardware performance. However, Nintendo maintains dominance on the software side, with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream retaining the top position in the charts.
The life simulation title added another 50,000+ copies to its sales this week, successfully fending off competition from new Switch 2 releases Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and eFootball Kick-Off!, which failed to dislodge it from the top spot. This demonstrates the sustained popularity of Tomodachi Life among Japanese consumers.
The PlayStation 5 title 007 First Light experienced a significant drop, falling from its debut position at number two the previous week to seventh place. Meanwhile, strategy game A-Train9 Evolution entered the top ten in its debut week.
While Switch 2 hardware sales remain under pressure from the price adjustment, the console retains its position as the leading platform in Japan. Nintendo’s software performance suggests that strong software availability can sustain consumer interest despite hardware sales challenges, though the ongoing sales decline remains a concern for the company’s near-term Japanese market performance.
