Award-Winning Adventure Game The Drifter Will Arrive on Nintendo Switch Later This Month

The Drifter, an award-winning point-and-click adventure game from Melbourne-based developer Powerhoof, is arriving on Nintendo Switch on June 22, 2026. The game will also launch simultaneously on Switch 2, offering enhanced performance on Nintendo’s latest hardware.

The Switch 2 version will take full advantage of the new console’s capabilities, supporting up to 4K resolution at 120fps. According to Powerhoof, this technical leap delivers “extra crisp pixel art” and “ultra-smooth parallax scrolling.” Players on Switch 2 will have flexibility in how they interact with the game, with support for both traditional twin-stick controls and a point-and-click experience using the Joy-Con 2’s mouse functionality.

The Drifter is developed by Dave Lloyd and Barney Cumming, the creators behind 2014’s acclaimed dungeon crawler beat ’em up Crawl. Their latest title is a fast-paced 2D adventure that draws inspiration from classic horror and thriller creators Stephen King, Michael Crichton, and John Carpenter, while incorporating aesthetic influences from 1970s Australian exploitation cinema.
