Ubisoft is reportedly closing two studios and restructuring another, with around 380 people expected to be laid off
Ubisoft has announced plans to close two studios and restructure a third as part of a significant round of layoffs affecting approximately 380 employees. The closures include Ubisoft Winnipeg and Ubisoft Belgrade, both smaller satellite studios that provided essential development support across multiple projects.
Winnipeg, a support and technology studio, focused on developing and maintaining Ubisoft’s proprietary game engines, including Anvil and Snowdrop. Belgrade served as a co-developer contributing to various titles including Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Crew 2, and Skull and Bones.
Additionally, Ubisoft Barcelona will be restructured to focus exclusively on Rainbow Six franchise development. The company’s Global Publishing team will also experience impacts from the restructuring.
The layoffs are currently pending consultation and represent the latest phase of cost-cutting measures Ubisoft has implemented throughout 2026. These closures continue the publisher’s broader restructuring efforts announced earlier in the year as the company seeks to optimize its portfolio and operational structure.
