Valor Mortis’ acrobatic new demo makes me want to believe it’s a soulslike prequel to Ghostrunner
Valor Mortis, a first-person fencing soulslike set in a Napoleonic era, has revealed a significantly expanded demo showcasing its acrobatic combat mechanics. The game is being developed by One More Level, the studio behind the acclaimed Ghostrunner franchise.
The new demo highlights several standout features, including wallrunning, swinging mechanics, and flesh magic hook-grappling abilities, adding verticality and movement-focused gameplay to the melee combat system. These acrobatic elements represent a fresh take on the soulslike formula, combining first-person perspective with skill-based fencing combat.
Valor Mortis is scheduled for release on September 24, 2026, placing it in a notably crowded release window. The same date sees launches for Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrives just one day later on September 25th.
