The Fall of the House of Usher is a Gothic-thriller you need to binge on Netflix
Netflix’s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” a 2023 horror series created by Mike Flanagan, offers a darkly entertaining take on family dysfunction and dread. The eight-episode limited series, from the creator of Midnight Mass and The Haunting of the Hill House, adapts themes and elements from the work of Edgar Allan Poe, delivering gothic-thriller storytelling with distinct horror tropes explored across each episode. The narrative follows a cursed family whose members face increasingly disturbing fates, with each episode highlighting different elements from Poe’s literary legacy. Flanagan’s series combines psychological horror with supernatural elements, creating a tightly paced binge that explores how family bonds can become sources of terror. The show is positioned as one of Flanagan’s strongest creative achievements, delivering both crafted scares and compelling character work across its run.
