The Steam Frame is arriving in the US, suggesting the VR headset’s launch isn’t far off

The Steam Frame, Valve’s upcoming VR headset, appears to be arriving in the United States in significant quantities, suggesting an imminent launch. According to shipping manifests, the first mass production units have begun arriving at Valve’s US warehouse, with the German container ship Posen docking in Los Angeles on June 10th after a voyage from Shanghai carrying what is believed to be the first major shipment of the headset.

Multiple sources tracking import records indicate that Valve received nearly 32 metric tons of “Virtual Reality Devices” through its distribution partner Ceva. After accounting for shipping container weight, this translates to approximately 13 tons of actual product. Additional shipments are being tracked, with reports indicating five separate shipments from manufacturer Quanta Computing, each weighing around 6,400 kilograms.

Valve previously announced that the Steam Frame would launch sometime during the summer season, but specific launch dates and pricing have not yet been revealed. The arrival of substantial inventory in US warehouses suggests the launch could occur within weeks rather than months. This inventory buildup is a typical precursor to a consumer product launch, as companies prepare retail distribution and demand fulfillment.
