‘Make some noise’: Vanillaware reportedly wants more of its games on PC, but it’s up to the publishers

Vanillaware founder George Kamitani has expressed that the studio “totally wants” to bring more of its games to PC, according to recent reports. The announcement comes as the developer’s latest title, Muramasa: Revenant Blades, was confirmed for a Steam release, marking a notable win for PC gaming fans who have long requested access to the studio’s acclaimed back catalog.

Vanillaware has created some of gaming’s most distinctive and beloved titles, including Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, Unicorn Overlord, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. However, most of these games remain unavailable on PC, instead being tied to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms. This has frustrated fans who have consistently advocated for PC ports across social media platforms and gaming communities.

While Kamitani’s comments suggest genuine interest from the developer in expanding PC availability, the actual power to make these ports happen rests with the games’ respective publishers, not Vanillaware itself. As a result, fans hoping to play more of the studio’s catalog on PC are being encouraged to make their voices heard to publishers directly. The Muramasa announcement represents the first significant breakthrough for PC players in accessing Vanillaware’s catalog, but whether additional ports will follow remains dependent on publisher decisions and perceived market demand.
