Fable 4 will indulge my cruelest impulses from Fable 3

Xbox’s highly anticipated new Fable title is set to launch in February 2027, developed by Playground Games. A 30-minute gameplay showcase video released on June 10 provided an in-depth look at the game’s features and mechanics, promising significant expansions to the franchise’s signature systems.

The game continues the series’ tradition of relationship-building with NPCs and family creation, while substantially expanding player agency. As with previous Fable entries, player choices will meaningfully shape Albion and its inhabitants. The new installment promises to push this concept further than any predecessor, with the game world dynamically evolving in response to player decisions.

A notable new feature is an expanded property and commerce system that allows players to purchase properties, shops, and businesses throughout the game world. Players can set prices for their establishments, manage tenants, and even evict them from their homes. This landlord mechanic adds a new dimension to how players can influence Albion’s society and economy through their choices, embodying the moral complexity the franchise is known for.
