Order of the Sinking Star’s enormous Steam Next Fest Demo is worth checking out
Jonathan Blow, the designer of acclaimed puzzle game The Witness, has been developing Order of the Sinking Star, an ambitious puzzle game, over the past decade with his team at Thekla. The project is gaining attention through a free Steam Next Fest demo launching June 15.
However, the game comes with some baggage. Blow’s politically charged social media posts have prompted some developers associated with the project to publicly distance themselves from him, creating an awkward controversy surrounding the release.
Despite the controversy surrounding its creator, the wider Thekla team appears to have created something noteworthy. The free Steam Next Fest demo will allow players to form their own impressions of the game. According to Blow, the demo is substantial—larger than most complete paid puzzle games—providing players with a significant amount of content to evaluate the project’s quality.
