38-0 is the second amateur-made football drafting game to break into the UK App Store top ten
A football drafting game developed by hobbyist Josh Pavey has become the second amateur-made title to crack the UK App Store’s top ten games chart. Called 38-0, the game launched on June 11 and quickly accumulated over 100,000 downloads on iOS without any marketing or PR support. The game briefly topped the Simulation genre chart before settling into 26th place overall on the games chart, positioned ahead of major titles like Chess.com and Subway Surfers.
The game’s strongest markets include the UK, Ireland, the European Union, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, suggesting its appeal extends well beyond its apparent primary market in Britain. An Android version was in development at the time of reporting, indicating plans to expand the game’s reach beyond Apple’s platform.
The success of 38-0 follows a recent trend of amateur-developed football drafting games achieving mainstream success through the App Store without traditional industry resources or marketing campaigns.
