Banned horror title Horses begins recouping development costs after selling 30,000 copies

Italian developer Santa Ragione’s surreal horror game Horses has successfully recouped its development costs despite being banned from Steam and the Epic Games Store. The title has sold 30,000 copies worldwide and generated $100,000 in revenue. Studio co-founder and director Pietro Righi Riva announced that Santa Ragione has repaid all private investors who funded the project, with $30,000 of the revenue allocated to director Andrea Lucco Borlera. However, the studio currently lacks sufficient funds to begin production on its next project. The bans from major digital platforms have not prevented Horses from finding an audience, demonstrating that players continue to discover and access the game through alternative channels despite its removal from mainstream PC gaming storefronts such as Steam and Epic Games.
