The world’s most popular truck simulator games will be much easier to learn with a future patch for Windows and Steam Deck
SCS Software, the independent developer behind American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, is rolling out a new feature designed to lower the barrier to entry for newcomers: a Multi-Function Display (MFD) menu. Currently under development, this interface enhancement aims to simplify what the developer acknowledges is a daunting control scheme that can overwhelm first-time players.
The truck simulators currently support multiple input methods, including mouse and keyboard controls, traditional gamepads, and specialized truck-themed steering wheels. However, managing the extensive list of available controls has presented a learning curve for players new to the franchise. The MFD menu—a compact pop-up interface—promises to organize and streamline access to these controls, making the games more approachable.
The patch is planned for release on both Windows and Steam Deck, bringing the quality-of-life improvement to SCS Software’s primary platforms. While details remain limited as the feature is still in development, the initiative reflects the developers’ commitment to expanding their audience beyond hardcore simulation fans and making their games more accessible to casual players interested in trucking simulators.
