A physical copy of Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition on Switch 2 appears to have been found in the wild
A physical copy of Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly been discovered in the wild, fueling speculation about the previously unannounced title. A Reddit user shared images of the game’s box on the Sonic Frontiers subreddit, claiming to have obtained it at their workplace.
The leak follows earlier reports suggesting the enhanced edition would be announced within the coming week. However, Sega has not yet made any official announcement regarding the Definitive Edition or its platforms.
The discovery raises questions about the game’s development status and release timeline, as Switch 2 itself remains unconfirmed by Nintendo, though industry expectations suggest an announcement is imminent. Definitive Edition releases typically feature enhanced graphics, additional content, or gameplay improvements over the original title.
Sonic Frontiers originally launched in 2022 as the franchise’s first open-zone game. A Definitive Edition would represent Sega’s effort to re-release the game with enhancements for the new hardware generation.
