Tom Holland Suggests Adolescence Star Owen Cooper as His Spider-Man Successor
Tom Holland has suggested Owen Cooper, a 16-year-old British actor, as a potential successor to take over the Spider-Man role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Esquire, Holland praised Cooper’s talent, stating “Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now.”
Cooper gained prominence starring in Netflix’s 2025 thriller Adolescence, where he played Jamie Miller, a teenage murder suspect. His breakout performance has positioned him as one of the most discussed young actors in the entertainment industry.
Holland’s suggestion comes amid ongoing discussions about his future with the Spider-Man franchise. Earlier in June, he told Empire magazine he was ready to transition away from the role he has played since 2015’s Captain America: Civil War. “I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” Holland said, indicating his desire to mentor the next Spider-Man actor similar to how Robert Downey Jr. prepared him for the role.
The 28-year-old actor’s comments suggest Marvel Studios may be exploring fresh casting options, though no official announcements regarding Holland’s departure or formal succession plan have been made. Holland’s emphasis on helping establish the next era—potentially involving Miles Morales—indicates the franchise could be heading in a new creative direction.
