The Floor Is Lava In CoD: Black Ops 7’s New Zombies Map
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is receiving a new round-based Zombies map titled Kowakujo as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update. The map is set at a Japanese castle belonging to the Masaki family, located within active volcanoes, creating a unique lava-filled environment that separates different areas of the playable space.
Narratively, Kowakujo continues the storyline established in the previous map, Totenreich. Players navigate across seas of lava to reach the castle, with the story revolving around Takeo Masaki and his personal history. A cinematic trailer showcases a menacing dragon and the characters battling against the treacherous lava environment.
The volcanic setting and lava-based map design are not entirely new to the Call of Duty Zombies franchise. Previous iterations have incorporated similar environmental hazards, notably in Black Ops 2’s Zombies offerings. However, Kowakujo appears to centralize lava as a core map mechanic, making environmental navigation and hazard avoidance a significant gameplay element alongside traditional zombie-slaying action.
