Future Control Titles Depend On If Resonant ‘Does Well’
Remedy Entertainment is planning for the long-term future of its Control franchise, with continued expansions contingent on the critical and commercial success of Control Resonant, the upcoming sequel launching September 24, 2026.
Control originally released in 2019 as a new intellectual property for Remedy and has since evolved into an established franchise. The universe has already expanded with the multiplayer spinoff FBC Firebreak, and Control Resonant represents the second mainline installment in the series.
According to Control Resonant’s Art Director Elmeri Raitanen, the studio is actively developing a long-term vision for the Control franchise. However, the scope of future titles and expansions will depend significantly on how well Control Resonant performs commercially and critically. This approach is typical for modern game franchises, where sequels often serve as indicators of audience interest and profitability before committing to additional entries.
The September 24 release date provides an important milestone for determining the franchise’s trajectory. Control Resonant’s performance will help Remedy decide whether to pursue additional mainline entries, spinoffs, or expanded transmedia projects within the Control universe.
