XBOX Reveals First Gears of War: E-Day Hands-On Demo Details
Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: E-Day, one of Xbox’s most anticipated upcoming titles, will be playable at Gamescom 2026. The game is confirmed as a console exclusive, marking an important strategic release for the platform.
Gears of War: E-Day represents a significant return for the storied franchise, bringing back iconic characters including Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. This installment promises a different tone compared to recent entries in the series, with the game set to launch in October 2026.
Xbox will have a dedicated booth at Gamescom from August 26-30, 2026, where attendees will be able to experience the single-player campaign firsthand. This represents an early opportunity to play the game nearly two months before its official launch. Beyond the main showcase, Xbox FanFest will also take place during the same time period as part of the company’s worldwide tour.
While Xbox will not host a traditional showcase event similar to the industry-wide Gamescom Opening Night Live (scheduled for August 25), the company plans to share new announcements through daily livestreams throughout the event. This approach allows Xbox to reveal new information on their own schedule while still maintaining a significant presence at the annual German gaming event, which is traditionally the second-largest gaming announcement period of the year.
PC requirements for Gears of War: E-Day have already been published, giving players insight into what hardware specifications they’ll need for launch. The combination of the console exclusive status and the hands-on demo opportunity positions E-Day as a cornerstone title for Xbox’s 2026 lineup.
