Kagurabachi manga goes on short hiatus following anime announcement
Kagurabachi, one of the most popular manga series in the current generation of Weekly Shonen Jump titles, announced a short hiatus beginning in June 2026 via its official X account. The break comes shortly after the series received an anime adaptation announcement, with the adaptation set to premiere in 2027.
Manga hiatuses are a standard part of the industry, particularly for creators working on grueling weekly publication schedules. However, the ability to take regular breaks is typically a privilege earned by the most successful creators. One Piece author Eiichiro Oda, whose series has achieved unprecedented popularity, negotiated the right to take breaks every three weeks—a rare accommodation in an industry known for demanding deadlines. Kagurabachi author Takeru Hokazono’s ability to secure time off suggests the series’ continued success has afforded him similar professional standing and flexibility within the demanding manga production environment.
