Pokemon Champions Is Out Now On Mobile With A Very Powerful Freebie
Pokémon Champions, the competitive battling spin-off that debuted on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 earlier this year, has launched on iOS and Android as a free-to-play title with in-app microtransactions. The mobile release coincides with the game’s latest seasonal update.
The game maintains its turn-based battle system, differentiating it from the real-time mechanics of other recent Pokémon titles. Players recruit Pokémon using in-game Victory Points currency or import existing Pokémon from Pokémon Home to compete in online ranked battles.
To celebrate the launch, The Pokémon Company is distributing a limited-time promotional reward across all platforms through September 2: Raichu with Raichunite X and Raichunite Y Mega Evolution stones, claimable via in-game mailbox. The availability of these stones after the promotional period remains unconfirmed.
The concurrent update introduces Season M3 (June 17–July 8), themed around the Hoenn region and adding approximately 20 new Pokémon, largely completing the game’s Mega Pokémon roster. Notable additions include Mega Raichu X and Y. The season’s battle pass includes Starmie with Starminite, cosmetic items, and a trainer outfit inspired by Pokémon Legends characters.
Pokémon Champions positions itself as a successor to classic competitive titles like Pokémon Stadium, bringing players from the main series into a dedicated online battling platform.
